SEAMS

Sustainable Energy Asset Management Solutions (SEAMS)

Across large and complex sites, electrification is complex, and control of these systems is challenging and dynamic. To help manage these systems, metering and monitoring are usually in place. So, while energy monitoring and reporting isn’t new to most large energy consumers, Hexeis is proving what else is possible.

Our Sustainable Energy Asset Management Solutions (SEAMS) is an integrated, autonomous energy management system turning your energy data into deep knowledge and a decision-making tool.

SEAMS combines hardware and software connected to your energy system to immediately begin deep analysis and reporting.

SEAMS identifies areas of wasteful energy consumption and by finding more capacity through greater efficiency, you can avoid, defer, or reduce expensive capital upgrades. This also optimises return on investment.

SEAMS is also a minute by minute, hour by hour management system, providing real time data and immediate alerts when issues are detected. This includes identification of power quality issues which has potential to damage and degrade equipment.

SEAMS is a versatile management tool, providing internal cost allocation for energy charging, verification of energy bills received, NABERS reporting, and many other functions.

The SEAMS Advantage

  • Identifies smart ways to reduce electricity consumption & energy bills

  • Optimises the lifecycle costs of energy assets

  • Boosts sustainability outcomes

SEAMS outputs and tools

SEAMS provide many services and elements including:

  • Real time performance monitoring and reporting

  • Immediate alerts when issues are detected

  • Monitoring after-hours usage (during and out of term time targets)

  • Internal cost allocation

  • Billing verification and ability to accurately on-charge tenants

  • Other utility management (water, gas)

  • Greenhouse gas reporting

  • Capacity planning and network planning

  • Base building and common area cost allocation

  • NABERS compliance and reporting

  • Reporting on energy consumption target tracking

Greater control and assurance
Providing integrated, automated energy management systems, which monitor operational performance with immediate alerts when issues are detected.

Benefits

Energy cost management

Escalating energy bills are generating higher operational overheads across all sectors. Asset managers are expected to find efficiency and reduce unnecessary energy consumption. Government and the private sector are also expected to operate more sustainably and reduce carbon emissions.

To help reduce consumption and control energy bills, Hexeis provides a range of support, including:

  • Selecting more cost-effective energy tariffs

  • Energy supply and tariff negotiation

  • Verifying energy bills – checking that utility meter data is accurate

  • Audit of current consumption, and sources of highest consumption

  • Selecting alternative energy supply options, including on site energy production

  • Selecting power quality control equipment, including Power Factor Control, Harmonic Control, and other Voltage Control

  • Analysing opportunities to reduce energy bills through operational initiatives as to type of energy deployed and timing. This may include technical solutions such as onsite battery storage, chilled water storage, heat storage, and building controls

  • After hours energy monitoring – knowing what you are powering and whether this is needed

  • Allocating energy costs to departments, clients, tenants, and/or specific activities. This helps ensure all stakeholders are more behaviour and cost-conscious to limit energy consumption

By applying all or a combination of these techniques, our clients are more actively controlling their energy consumption and power bills.

Energy efficiency management

Our energy efficiency management solutions extend from our energy cost management methodologies.

This helps companies improve their overall sustainability by achieving energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions to progress towards net zero.

Services and solutions:

Our holistic approach to energy efficiency applies a combination of complementary elements, including:

  • Audit of current consumption, and sources of highest consumption

  • Analysis to identify energy efficiency opportunities

  • Modelling energy efficiency opportunities, including “what-if” scenarios

  • Benchmarking the performance of assets, ranging from the whole of the building or precinct, through to individual equipment such as chillers

  • Measurement and validation of current energy efficiency projects, modelled versus actual

  • Energy distribution network capacity assessments

With this analysis we provide an energy efficiency management strategy. This includes practical, actionable items for ready implementation.

By applying a combination of these techniques along with energy cost management, our clients are operating more efficiently and sustainably.

Energy network asset capacity management

Hexeis works with many clients who deliver critical services such as hospitals and transport systems, where reliable energy delivery is vital for their business continuity.

For these clients we provide energy network capacity management advice and technical services. This ensures energy delivery infrastructure has sufficient capacity to deliver energy when and where required.

In hospitals this is a critical outcome to ensure reliable energy delivery especially for the continuous delivery of life support equipment.

Without network capacity management, oversubscription of electrical equipment can occur. This significantly reduces asset reliability, lifespan, and causes outages due to protection trips.

Services and solutions:

To maintain reliable energy delivery, Hexeis offers the following complementary advice and services:

  • Measure and analyse true capacity - Analysis of equipment utilised, typical loads, and energy delivery capacity, and whether additional plant and equipment is being considered

  • Use benchmarking and historical data to more accurately estimate additional capacity required

  • Analyse if alternative strategic and/or technical alternative are feasible and cheaper than new capital infrastructure

  • Detect unexpected loss of capacity BEFORE it threatens availability to give time to plan and procure without duress

  • With 24/7 insight into capacity, maximise the loading of key infrastructure without threatening reliability

  • Analysis of the Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) equipment to ensure the UPS can support the required load, for a range of contingencies. Key scenarios can be the duration when the utility and generator mains supply is unavailable, with consideration of the required redundancy of UPS supply

  • Analysis that generator equipment can support the load for the duration when the utility mains supply is unavailable, with consideration of the required redundancy of generator supply

  • Analysis that the electrical cable rating is not exceeded by the connected loads, with consideration of the required redundancy

  • Analysis that the utility transformer equipment rating is not exceeded by the connected loads, with consideration of the required redundancy, and any planned additional equipment

With Hexeis analysis and advice, we help asset managers maintain delivery through effective network capacity management.
